The great complex of Angkor was the seat of the Khmer Empire from A.D. 800 to 1400. The ruins provide intricate and beautiful evidence that can tell historians a great deal about how the culture and society functioned. However, despite all this evidence, there are still many questions that historians cannot answer and many mysteries that remain to be solved. The rural Thai village of Ban Non Wat is a key archaeological site for understanding the origins of the Angkor Empire. That’s because the ancient settlement at Ban Non Wat has been inhabited from Neolithic times to this day. This means that the site provides a nearly continuous and valuable record of the mysterious origins of Angkor. |
